CHOOSE THE SYSTEM BEFORE THE SIZE
Choosing a curtain track for a bay window
A suitable bay window track must follow the corners, carry your curtains and fix securely in the available position. Start with those requirements, then confirm the supplier’s finished dimensions. A long enough pack alone does not establish a fit.

Three track types to investigate
| Type | Why consider it? | What must be confirmed? |
|---|---|---|
| Flexible PVC | A hand-bendable system may suit a simple angled or square bay. | The exact bending method, curtain load, supports and whether the kit includes gliders and brackets. |
| Bendable metal | A system with documented bay-bending instructions and compatible gliders. | Permitted bending tools and radii, joints, support positions and stated load for the installation. |
| Supplier-bent or made to measure | The supplier assesses a drawing, template or survey. | Its measuring form, corner geometry, returns, finished-size convention and order conditions. |
Can I use a straight curtain track in a bay?
Only if the exact system is designed to be bent or has approved corner parts for your layout. A straight metal rail is not automatically bendable. Check the current maker’s instructions before bending or cutting; do not borrow a method from a different track.
How much track do I need?
Record the left, centre and right sections at the proposed fitting line. For example, 900 + 1,800 + 950 mm gives a 3,650 mm measured run. Bend geometry, end returns and joining rules remain unresolved. Ask the supplier for the final order size before choosing a retail pack.

Ceiling fixing or wall fixing?
Choose a system that lists your mounting type. Ceiling fixing and wall fixing use different support arrangements; available projection must clear handles, vents and opening windows. The supplied screws and plugs may not suit your substrate. A fitter should assess an uncertain surface or a heavy curtain installation.
What about eyelet and heavy curtains?
Eyelet curtains pass over a pole and should not be assumed compatible with a glider track. For hooked headings, confirm the hook and glider arrangement. We exclude known heading and weight conflicts in the product shortlist, but an unspecified curtain weight is a question for the supplier rather than proof of capacity.
Check the complete kit
- Correct track length, approved bends and any permitted joins.
- Compatible wall or ceiling supports and required bracket spacing.
- Gliders, hooks, end stops and any overlap or return components.
- Fixings for the actual wall or ceiling construction.
- Clearance and space for the curtains when open.

Compare systems against your measurements
Our calculator shortlists dated manufacturer or retailer specifications against your measured run, shape and known mounting choice. Each product shows why it was included and what still needs checking. It does not guarantee a fit. Some purchasing links are labelled affiliate advertisements; product order is based on verified length, not commission.
